So I tried this Organic Red Bean Soymilk today and it definitely was the opposite of what I expected. I thought there would be chunks of red bean and taste like sweet red bean dessert soup but just cold and in a bottle instead of warm in a bowl.
Well, was I wrong.
It was very thick and gelatinous, probably the thickest drink I’ve ever had! This wasn’t a bad thing, but it was just surprising at first. It’s also all organic and although there aren’t actual pieces of red bean in the drink, the red bean flavor was on point. You can tell it was made from smashed up red beans. The soy milk is a nice touch for people who are lactose intolerant like myself. It’s also on the expensive end of 7/11 drinks for 39元.
The texture is unlike a red bean dessert soup but it is how I would imagine the soup if it was solidified to a jelly-like consistency.
I would say this wasn’t my cup of tea (or milk for this matter), but I can see why other people would enjoy it for its flavor and texture, as thick jelly drinks are very popular in Taiwan. I think for me, a fruit jelly drink would have been more enjoyable. Would you try this red bean soy milk drink?
Until next time,
